Workforce partnerships give students valuable on-job experience

A win-win situation is how the general manager of a local restaurant involved with the Pioneer Center’s vocational training program described the benefits of it for everyone involved.

“It’s good overall for both sides,” said Marsha Ritenour, general manger at Tumbleweed. “(The students) get experience they can’t get everywhere. As they get older, they have a recommendation and job experience they can point to.

“For our staff, it is so helpful for them to see the humanitarian side of things and gain experience with the public and folks they might not generally associate with. I highly recommend it.”
