Ongoing FANS initiatives

There are various ongoing initiatives FANS members can be a part of at any time without commitment for ongoing involvement:

Adult Recreation Events
Monthly low or no cost events where people with and without disabilities join to enjoy each other’s company. Past activities include cooking classes, bonfires, canvas nights, and more. All you need to do is show up and have fun!Get Together Center

The Get Together Center is open to youth and young adults ages 16-21.  They provide resources, educational opportunities, and fun to all who show up.  Volunteers are always needed in a variety of ways.  Whether sharing a skill or hobby, providing food for our teens to share as a group of friends, or sitting and talking with the participants, there are opportunities for whatever level of giving you would like to share. Click here to view the flyer.

Fast Break
Give your employees a quick break! A small group of people with disabilities will come to your office to provide you with snacks. You can schedule a date and time with us and we’ll show up with snacks to share. We will stay a few minutes and will leave a jar full of candy for your front office to enjoy.

Golden ‘Furniture’ Retrievers
This group of volunteers pick up and deliver donated furniture and household items to folks in need. Please make sure you check out our Goodwill Voucher Collaborative as well.

Goodwill Vouchers
Clean out your garage, basement, or closets and donate to the Goodwill locations in Chillicothe. Drop off items to the Goodwill locations and tell them  you’d like your donation to count toward the Pioneer Center program. When you do this, vouchers are accumulated and given to individuals with developmental disabilities so they can buy items needed to live and work successfully in the community.

Make a House a Home
This is a new initiative started by a parent group to provide household items for young adults with disabilities who move into the community for the first time. Donate gently used or new items to get them started. Click here to view the flyer.

Make Their Day, Meet a Need, or Make a Memory!
Think of this as a small, localized version of Make A Wish…Make Their Day Teams provide small customized care packages or meals. Make a Memory Teams donate sports tickets, concert tickets, amusement park tickets, and fancy restaurant gift cards to provide experiences to people who would otherwise not experience those things. Meet a Need Teams provide grocery gift cards or fuel cards to individuals and families in crisis.

We will be taking on new initiatives based on needs of the people we serve, and ideas/interest of our FANS. Please feel free to share your ideas and feedback by emailing fans@rossdd.org.
