OACB Good Life Planning Academy Graduation – December 2014

Congratulations to our friend and partner Becky Ward, of Frontier Community Services, for completing a robust 21 day Good Life training, offered by the Ohio Association for County Boards. Becky is the first person in Ross County to complete the entire 21 day course!

I have been involved in an exciting training experience called Good Life Planning Academy.  On December 10, 2014, accompanied by Greg Arcaro and Brian Sylvester, as my guests, I officially graduated as a Good Life Facilitator.

What does that mean for Frontier Community Services? It brings us the honor of being recognized as an agency that believes in the “shift” to a way of thinking that fully embraces the words of our Logo: dignity & respect.  My wish is that it impacts Frontier on all levels of services, but more importantly refreshes us on how we demonstrate true caring for everyone in our lives.  I thought I led a pretty “Good Life” way of thinking.  I’m here to tell you, the training I experienced, altered many aspects of my life.

The Good Life Network (GLN) is a training and professional development program conceptualized and founded by Willie Jones and Pete Moore in 2011.

The goal of the program is to combine many various philosophies and disciplines (i.e., gentle teaching, positive culture, person-centered planning, etc.) into a cohesive and organized effort to help people with developmental disabilities live a good life.

The program is a service of the Ohio Association of County Boards of DD (www.facebook.com/oacbdd).
